Hotel Information, Directions, and Visitor Information

  

A block of rooms have been reserved for Symposium speakers and attendees from March 11-March 16 at the ocean-front Hampton Inn and Suites (formerly the Casa del Mar hotel) for a special Symposium rate of $99 per night. They are reserved under the name "NERR Maritime," or simply let them know you are here for the Symposium. This is about 8 miles to the south of the NERR, which is the closest accommodations. The town of St. Augustine across the bridge and several miles further south following A1A, and the St. Augustine Lighthouse is about two miles past downtown, across the Bridge of Lions on Anastasia Island.

Directions from Hotel to GTM-NERR Education Center:

  1. Head west on Vilano Rd toward Coastal Hwy (only 33 feet)
  2. Turn right at Coastal Hwy (A1A) which turns into S Ponte Vedra Blvd/SR-A1A
  3. After almost 8 miles you will see a sign for GTM-NERR Education Center; turn left at Guana River Rd.

Directions from the Hotel to the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum:

  1. Head west on Coastal Highway (only 33 feet)
  2. Turn right onto Coastal Highway
  3. Turn left to take SR-A1A over the Vilano Bridge (Francis and Mary Usina Bridge)
  4. Continue for about a mile past the bridge until the road dead-ends at a merry-go-round, and take a left onto San Marco Avenue/A1A.
  5. Continue to follow San Marco Ave/A1A for 1.3 miles, passing the Castillo de San Marcos (Spanish colonial fortress).
  6. Take a left to cross the Bridge of Lions (at the Cathedral Pl./King St. stop light).
  7. Continue on Anastasia Blvd/A1A for about two miles. You will pass the Lighthouse on your left.
  8. Take a left onto Red Cox Road (opposite Alligator Farm at a stop light)
  9. Continue on Red Cox Road, curving to the left and straight past the elementary school, and take a left into the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum parking lot.

Directions to the Flagler Room, Flagler College, downtown St. Augustine:

  1. From the GTM-NERR or the Hampton Inn and Suites, follow the directions to the Lighthouse, but
  2. Instead of taking a left at the light to cross the Bridge of Lions, take a right onto Cathedral Pl.
  3. Follow Cathedral Pl. for two blocks, and when it dead-ends into Flagler College take a left turn onto Cordova St.
  4. Take an immediate right turn onto King St.
  5. A block down King Street on the right is the statue of Flagler and the gates which lead into an open courtyard (foot traffic only). Beyond the fountain in the courtyard enter the building and the Flagler Room is on your left.

Directions to the City Marina to Board the Victory III:

When driving from the GTM-NERR or Hampton Inn and Suites, follow the directions to the Lighthouse, but do not turn left onto the Bridge of Lions, but continue straight through the stoplight. The City Marina is located immediately on the left, just past the Bridge.

Parking in Downtown St. Augustine

When searching for a parking place in downtown, please note that there is a 1200-car downtown parking garage located at the St. Augustine Visitor Information Center, 6 Castillo Drive, St. Augustine, FL 32084. Parking is $1.25/hour or $7.00 for all day.
